Google introduces their Nexus One, the new ‘iPhone Killer.’ Produced in conjunction with HTC, it boasts a 3G capacitive touch screen and comes loaded with features including wi-fi, a 5MP camera and a convenient 3.5 mm audio jack.  Also teaming up with AT&T's rival T-Mobile, prices for new T-Mobile customers competitively start from $179 with a two-year contract.  An unlocked version sells for $529.

Using the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor, it’s almost as fast as a laptop computer.  Google is also touting its 290 hours stand-by time and 10 hours talk-time.

Compared to T-Mobile’s Android-driven MyTouch with its Qualcomm MSM 7200A 528 MHz processor, 3.2 MP camera with no flash, with a 420 hour stand-by and 7.5 hour talk-time, the Nexus One runs faster, therefore it would allow users to run more apps at once.

Some features, such as a full three-inch touch screen candy-bar style phone and the trackball are the same on both phones.  However, with the additional battery life and faster processor, the Nexus One is currently the cream of the crop in smartphones.

Can it outlive the next version of the iPhone and compete with the hundreds of thousands of iPhone apps already on the market? We’ll just have to wait and see.
